We're breaking down all the Oscars contenders for you, so that you can decide whether you want to see them -- or at the very least, hold your own at cocktail parties. Next up: 'Rachel Getting Married,' an offbeat drama that tackles a trio of therapy-inducing issues -- drugs, traumatic memories and, of course, family.
Nominated for: Best Actress (Anne Hathaway)
What It's About: Kym (Anne Hathaway) is an addict who leaves the safe confines of rehab to attend her sister Rachel's (Rosemarie DeWitt) wedding. While at home, the incidents that drove her to addiction are slowly revealed, all to the tune of an eclectic soundtrack performed live by the incredibly musical wedding guests.
Why You Should See It: Kym's story is heartbreaking -- she's troubled with men, drugs and family issues alike -- but the way she deals with her problems gives the movie some very real and funny moments. Anne Hathaway turns in her strongest performance to date, and is supported by several overlooked actors. Bonus: the documentary-style shooting makes you feel like a lucky invitee to one of the most colorful wedding ceremonies and receptions we've ever seen.
It's Kind of Like: 'My Best Friend's Wedding' meets 'Girl, Interrupted'
