What It's About: The origins of husky hockey fan/psycho killer Jason Voorhees get a rehash. After one group of pot-growing teens are dismantled (though one, who resembles the late Mrs. Voorhees, is taken prisoner), a second group of spoiled rich, less likable ones arrive for a bloodbath. At lest we can root for their grisly ends.
What We Say: Since when did Jason Voorhees start taking prisoners? Sacrilege. That's one of many mind-boggling missteps in this reboot that starts off strong before spiraling into asininity (Why would a filthy rich family buy a cabin on the infamous Camp Crystal Lake? All the locals know Jason's still lingering.) Worst of all, this gore fest just ain't scary. But, alas, it does have topless water-skiing!
Special Features? The "Killer Cut" DVD edition promises "more suspense, more terror, more Jason!" That translates into a whole nine extra minutes. You just have to wonder if anyone wants that.

'Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail'
What It's About: The world's favorite man-disguised-as-granny's (gransexual?) anger issues finally get the best of her when a road rage incident lands her in the slammer. Meanwhile, Tyler Perry newcomer Derek Luke plays a soon-to-be-married attorney who falls for an old friend now turning tricks.
It's Kind of Like: 'Tyler Perry's Anger Management' meets 'Tyler Perry's Pretty Woman'
Critical Consensus: Like most 'Tyler Perry' movies, 'Madea' failed to impress reviewers, registering a meager 26 percent approval rating on RottenTomatoes. And like most 'Tyler Perry' movies, audiences couldn't give a damn. The comedy still grossed $90 million at the box office.
