Despicable Me
This animated comedy about the world's greatest super villain looks pretty cute and I definitely didn't see the big gag coming. The bad guy is shown in profile silhouette and is it just me or does he look like Danny Devito's Penguin from Batman Returns? Things get dastardly on July 9, 2010.

Whip It!
I had assumed from the title that this was a Devo biopic, but it's actually about a young girl from a small Texas town who grows tired of the beauty pageant scene and joins a roller derby team. Ellen Page stars and this marks Drew Barrymore's first theatrical film as director. Things get rolling on October 9. strong>
The Collector
A thief breaks into a house only to find that someone worse is already there. This horror flick from the writers of several Saw sequels has an OK premise but the trailer doesn't grab me. I've seen zero advertising for this and it opens in two weeks, which probably means the studio doesn't have a lot of confidence in it. Find out for yourself on July 31.

Supernatural horror flick about young folks whose sailboat capsizes in a storm and they take refuge aboard a seemingly abandoned cruise ship. I like the premise and it seems pretty similar to a story from an E.C. Comic I read years ago. Here's hoping it doesn't turn into Ghost Ship. No release information yet.

White On Rice
A quirky Japanese man tries to find a new love after he finds himself divorced and living with his sister's family. Not sure if there's anything here worth seeing or not, but James Kyson Lee from Heroes is in it and he's cool . This will be out sometime in 2009.
