Catherine Hardwicke, director of Thirteen, Lords of Dogtown, and, oh yeah, Twilight, was supposedly locked in as director for Summit's upcoming movie If I Stay, written by Whip It!'s Shauna Cross. Summit's decision to bring on other directors for the Twilight series -- namely Chris Weitz for The Twilight Saga: New Moon and David Slade for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse -- brought rumblings about infighting, difficulties with Hardwicke, blah blah blah. But whether or not If I Stay was a bone to throw Hardwicke to prove to naysayers there's no hard feelings between the director and Summit, it looks like Hardwicke's post Twilight-life might not include Summit, after all, at least for the time being.

Now it looks like Hardwicke's busy schedule, which was already filled with a Hamlet adaptation, among other projects, has The Girl with the Red Riding Hood at the top of her dance card, according to the LA Times. Leonardo DiCaprio will produce; he also produced Orphan, which starred Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard as adoptive parents who get more than they bargained for.
