Children of the '80s, rest easy. It appears that 'Ghostbusters 3' is, at last, happening.

Not to be outdone by his son Jason's award season buzz, Ivan Reitman announced this week that he'll direct the long-awaited, long-rumored third installment in the 'Ghostbusters' franchise, and that he "hopes to start shooting it this next year."

At the National Board of Review Awards, Reitman -- who directed the first two films -- confirmed to MTV that yes, a script is in, and yes, he's behind the camera for it.

The script, written by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky ('Year One'), is currently in its second draft, but Reitman feels pretty confident that "good work is being done."
