We're betting Paul Walker and Vin Diesel were "fast" to sign up for this one.

Variety reports that Universal has re-upped on the 'The Fast and the Furious' franchise, signing Diesel, Walker, director Justin Lin and producer Neal H. Moritz to return for a fifth sequel, currently titled 'Fast Five.'

The film will pick up with Brian O'Connner (Walker) and Dom Teretto (Diesel) on the run from the law, and will be written by Chris Morgan, who also wrote 2009's 'Fast & Furious,' which was Universal's top-grossing film last year, bringing in over $350 million worldwide.

Collectively, the franchise has earned nearly $1 billion around the globe.
