Cinematical has just received the first set of exclusive stills from the film Barry Munday, which will enjoy its world premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival on Saturday March 13th at 2pm at the world famous Paramount theater. One of the films we've been looking forward to the most at this year's fest, Barry Munday stars Patrick Wilson as a suburban wanna-be ladies man who loses one of his testicles after being attacked in a movie theater ... and, to make matters worse, learns that he's facing a paternity suit from a woman he doesn't remember having sex with. Happens to you all the time, I'm sure. Nevertheless, Barry marches forward and welcomes what may very well be his last chance to be a father with open arms ... until, well, you'll have to see the film to see what happens next.
I'm personally looking forward to watching Patrick Wilson take on a role we're not used to seeing him in. Usually Wilson is the pretty boy, or the somewhat overage ass-kicking superhero, but he's never just some mopey dude who hangs out in his underwear playing video games with a missing testicle. Based on the novel by Frank Turner Hollon called Life is a Strange Place, newbie Chris D'Arienzo makes his directorial debut here (he also wrote the screenplay) with a film the synopsis describes as a "surprisingly heart-warming tale of a guy who finds it took losing his manhood to be a better man." Starring alongside Wilson are folks like Judy Greer, Chloe Sevigny, Malcolm McDowell, Cybill Shepard & Billy Dee Williams.
Check out both exclusive photos in the gallery below. And if you're attending SXSW this year, make sure to check out Barry Munday at the Paramount theater on March 13th at 2pm. We'll have more on the film once the festival gets underway.
