Release the Kraken! Warner Bros. unleashes its take on Greek mythology with 'Clash of the Titans,' a remake of 1981's campy classic.

The movie stars 'Avatar's Sam Worthington in Harry Hamlin's old role of Perseus, the demigod who leads the charge in man's battle against the gods. The mortal son of Zeus is also tasked with defeating Hades (Ralph Fiennes) before the lord of the underworld usurps the throne of brother Zeus (Liam Neeson) and all hell breaks loose.

Many of the creatures from the original make a return appearance in the remake, like the gorgon Medusa and those pesky scorpions. But what was then a kitschy take on gods and monsters with stop-motion effects and a mechanical owl is now a three-dimensional digital graphics event (though most reviewers say the added effects aren't worth splurging for the 3D version).

Directed by Louis Leterrier ('The Transporter'), 'Clash' also stars Bond babe Gemma Arterton as Perseus' spiritual guide Io and Danny Huston as Poseidon, the god of the seas.
