Well, that was fast.

Last week, Act I of a video game version of Joss Whedon's musical Internet sensation, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog was released online by 8-bit artist/musician Doctor Octoroc. He said Acts II and III would be coming soon, and he wasn't kidding. In the wee hours of the morning, the Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Game creator announced (via his blog and Twitter) the release of Act II of his 8-bit tribute. The ten minute second part can be viewed in high-quality Flash on his website and on YouTube.

If you're like me and love chip tune music, Doc Oct released the soundtrack for Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Game on his website for free download (though he'd appreciate a donation).

Embedded video and more after the jump!

Again, Doc Oct has done a great adaptation job. He's combined some scenes and expanded on certain parts of the original, so we get to see Dr. Horrible's Freeze Ray-failure and automobile-related injury at the Mayor's dedication at the Superhero Memorial Bridge. He continues to nail little details, like the giant chair and dartboard in Billy's bedroom. Turning Billy's rage-filled daydream during "Brand New Day" into a bonus game is again inspired, though this video (understandably) lost some of the original playing-for-the-first-time charm of Act I.

You should definitely download Doc Oct's free Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Game soundtrack. I think his take of "My Eyes" (called "On the Rise" on the soundtrack) is by far the best cover, though "Brand New Day" comes close.

Once again, I'm excited for the next Act. I know what's going to happen, but not sure how it'll happen. How will Doc Oct handle the tragic ending of the story, since it's rare that a gamer is a winner and a loser once "GAME OVER" appears? Will an audience react with pathos to the death of an 8-bit Penny? Come back to SciFi Squad once Act III is posted and we'll find out together!

I'd also like to remind you that Joss Whedon's original live-action Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog comes out on Blu-Ray on May 25th. It contains all the features of the original DVD (Cast & Crew Commentary, Commentary! The Musical, Behind the Scene Featurette and Fan Video Applications to the Evil League of Evil) and has an SRP of $19.95.

As a refresher, the live-action version of Act II is below.
