- Iron Man and Cowboys and Aliens screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby will be adapting James Patterson's Maximum Ride for Universal. Catherine Hardwicke is still attached to direct (the book was previously set up at Columbia Pictures, who allowed their option to lapse). If you were wondering why the Twilight director is attached, it probably has to do with Patterson's young-adult book being about part bird people versus part wolf people. I am not kidding.

- Paramount has given the green light to a third installment of The Ring, this time in 3D! Because that's what we all want. David Loucka will be writing the script. No word on whether or not Naomi Watts or Gore Verbinksi will be returning, but I'm betting they'll steer clear.

- Brad Fuller gives Bloody Disgusting a run down on their current slate of films. The Monster Squad remake is "all systems go". The Birds is still up in the air. The Butcherhouse Chronicles, despite a "great script", has stalled. Their movie adaptation of a Ouija board is currently under development, but it's no longer a horror film, but a "big action-adventure" movie.
