Shia LaBeouf, who, in a matter months, seems to have, well, transformed from plucky young gun to certifiable leading man, has just signed on to star in 'The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman,' for Lionsgate.

According to a press release issued today, the "romantic actioner," set to be helmed by noted commercial director Dante Ariola in his feature film debut, is about a regular guy, LaBeouf's Charlie, whose love for the (as yet uncast) impossibly charming Gabi almost gets him killed -- over and over again. Seems that a crazy-violent crime boss already has set his sights on Gabi and isn't going to let some kid swoop in and steal her affections.
