The war on movie pirating has just gone one step further in punishing US residents for downloading torrents with the announcement that the producers of the Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker are out to catch everyone who illegally downloaded the film.

This is a move reminiscent of the RIAA's lawsuits against music downloaders when, back in March, the US Copyright Group contacted 50,000 individuals and demanded a financial settlement for illegally downloading a handful of independent films, otherwise they'd be hauled up in a federal court.
