The world was rocked to its core last week after news hit that Megan Fox would not be in Transformers 3. And by "rocked to its core", I really mean that all (vaguely) interested parties let out a resounding, "Oh, okay, that makes sense". It came as no surprise, really. Fox and Transformers director Michael Bay had an openly contentious relationship all throughout the production and release of Revenge of the Fallen, so regardless of whether or not Bay fired the generational sex symbol he created or she quit, their parting of ways is hardly a Shyamalan-worthy twist ending. It does open the floor, though, to who is going to replace Fox as the heroic hottie fighting the Decepticons alongside Shia LeBeouf.

The website GeekWeek has already pegged the role as belonging to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley; Victoria's Secret model, star of the NSFW Agent Provocateur ad the above picture is taken from and girlfriend of Jason Statham. Now normally my first reaction would be to call into question a site that's not exactly known for scooping movie news for having an "inside source" to scoop news from, but I'm not going to do that here. Why? Because I don't care.
That's not me being snarky toward Transformers, either. I may have hated part two, but I had a lot of fun with part one and it's still a franchise that I would gladly revisit in the future; thing is, I don't care who replaces Megan Fox. I don't care because there isn't a single reasonable name they could cast that would excite me (I say reasonable because I find it highly unreasonable that Michael Bay would suddenly co-anchor the franchise's female lead with a non-model type). At the end of the day, Bay is simply casting a new sexual icon for marketing materials.

I have no faith the role will ever allow for anything greater than that. And that's okay, because it's exactly what I as a fan am expecting from a film about giant robots from space made by Michael "Awesome" Bay. I may just be on my own in that regard, though. Do you care who replaces Megan Fox in Transformers 3? Do you even want to see her replaced? If so, who would you like to see? Or does it really not matter one bit to you?
