We may only be a few weeks in, but this summer is quickly shaping up to be one of the worst in recent memory when it comes to movies that are worth our time and money. Robin Hood? Marmaduke? Sex and the City 2? Another Shrek? Except for the brilliantly shimmering light of hope that is Inception, the next two months or so look like an absolute dire time at the movies.
However, there's hope at the end of this very dark tunnel and the source of this hope is Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, a video game-influenced action rom-com based on Bryan Lee O'Malley's fantastic comic book series. In a summer that promises total banality, this looks to be the geekiest movie ever made, a celebration of everything that movie geeks, comic nerds and video game fans hold close to their cynical little hearts (check out both trailers if you haven't yet).
A new clip from the film premiered last night at the MTV Movie Awards and it's pretty tantalizing 90 seconds of goodness, featuring Michael Cera taking on Captain America himself, Chris Evans, in a fight to the death. Watch it, and love it, after the jump!
