Well, this has never happened before. I'm typing this story in the dark. Literally. Let me explain. I was part of a group of journalists who got to check out the trailer for 'The Green Hornet' before it debuts on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' tonight. And I'm about to tell you what I saw. But while we were backstage, chatting with Seth Rogen and director Michel Gondry, the power went down. At first, we were told that there would be a delay in filming. Then, while we were discussing 'Toy Story 3' with Rogen, the lights literally went out. It's the first time this has happened in 'Kimmel' history. Looks like they're going to be taping the show from his laptop. This is one you're going to want to watch!

Considering the less-than-stellar press the film has been getting, I wasn't expecting to love the trailer, but it was fantastic. One of my major issues with films based on lesser known comic book characters is that the general public knows very little and rarely gets on board until late in the film. And some of the studios commit the same sin as the geek community. They throw in too many obscure references and rely on the fan base to sell the film. What this trailer did was introduce the story and the characters in a easy to understand way and threw in enough action to perk my ears right up. Continue reading after the jump.
