Only days after approving The Blues Brothers as good Catholic entertainment, news has emerged about a new film that is upsetting those folks at the Vatican. Not surprising really, seeing as the movie - La Papessa - is based on a long standing legend about a female pope who became pregnant.

Medieval chronicles tell the story of Pope Joan, who disguised herself as a man and subsequently reigned as Catholic leader for two years around AD855. Known at the time as John Anglicus, her real identity came about when she gave birth in full papal costume during a public procession. Obviously her devout followers weren't too happy at this turn of events...
