Tim BurtonWhile it should be recognizable to fans of the television series and 1990s film versions, the newest iteration of 'The Addams Family' won't be based on either of those. Instead, producer Chrici told Coming Soon they're looking to Charles Addams original 'New Yorker' comics for inspiration.

The look of those original comic panels should fit very well with the inclusion of Tim Burton to the project, who Meledandri said is still involved with the project. The plan: to film 'Addams' in the stop-motion animation -- the same style that Burton used to great success in 'The Nightmare Before Christmas,' 'James and the Giant Peach' and 'Corpse Bride.' While no final decisions have been made, releasing it in black and white is also in consideration.

"It's all very, very early, but we are developing with [Tim Burton directing] in mind," said Meledandri.
