I know, I know -- the next James Bond film is kaput. Alison shared the news just a few days ago. MGM is in the hottest of hot financial water, and that means no moving forward with another 007 ... even though Sam Mendes was onboard to direct. But what if a different man was interested, one that is cinematic gold, continually offering up entertainment that is not only gorgeous, but also just plain good?

See, there's a James Bond fan out there who could make one hell of a movie, whose skilled hands could probably do a lot for the struggling MGM -- Christopher Nolan.
Deadline reports that while on his press tour in London, Nolan gushed about his love for Bond. He said: "I've loved the Bond films since I was a kid. For me, they're always about the expansiveness of cinema. The first Bond films set up infinite possibilities about the world they create. I'd love to do a Bond film."

As great as Sam Mendes is, it's not a jump to wonder what could happen if Nolan was given this opportunity. He's got the desire and talent, and. most importantly, the ability to create really immersive worlds that are both relatable and completely other-worldly. Though Bond has no superpowers, he's got the super charisma and environment that exist just outside of this world. I suspect Nolan could make the half-billion/film franchise even more popular.

Sure, he has his hands in two pots right now -- Superman and Batman -- but neither has become a directorial project yet, which opens him up for the possibility of Mr. Bond ... if MGM can get their act together. Then again, maybe the best bet is to wait a while. He can do some other projects, let the Mendes & MGM-led version die, and come back in the future to rock 007's world fresh.
