Last month, word hit that Party Down was being canceled. Though it boasted the likes of Jane Lynch, had guest stints from women like Kristin Bell, had many of its episodes directed by Fred Savage, and was created by a team that included Rob Thomas and Paul Rudd, no one ever heard about it. Starz didn't do very much to get the word out, and after two seasons, the show got the axe.

There's really nothing to compare to the series that saw self-involved actors, dreamers, and writers slumming along in the catering business, but there is a movie that might ease your pain just a little -- The Ten -- written by Ron Donald/Ken Marino, and starring one Paul Rudd.
Another friend-centric production, the comedy takes the Ten Commandments and gives them a unique twist in ten sketches that range from a guy jumping from a plane and being permanently stuck in the ground, to a white woman who tells her two black sons that their dad is Arnold Schwarzenegger, to Winona Ryder falling in love with -- and having sex with -- a ventriloquist's dummy.

As Scott aptly stated in his review: "The Ten is a 'glass half full' experience. While some of the skits yield precisely zero in the laughs department (far as I'm concerned, anyway), a few of 'em hit me square in the funny bone and had me chuckling like a dork." That makes it the sort of film you might be apprehensive about coughing money up for, but luckily it's joined the free realm of flicks over at SlashControl.

So, if you're eager for a little silly humor, and a cast that also boasts Adam Brody, Jon Hamm, Ron Silver, Famke Janssen, Gretchen Mol, Jason Sudeikis, Justin Theroux, Liev Schreiber, Jessica Alba, Oliver Platt, Janeane Garofalo, Rashida Jones, and Rob Corddry ...
