Kurt Russell is returning to the movie scrimmage line by taking a role as a football coach in Freedom Films' 'Touchback,' which centers on a small-town farmer who looks back 15 years to the injury that ended his career as a promising high-school football player.

Don Handfield is writing and directing. Brian Presley plays the ex-football player, Melanie Lynskey will play his wife and Christine Lahti will play his mother.

Filming begins this week in Grand Rapids, Mich., according to The Hollywood Reporter.
