Gwilym Hughes and Roy CastleIf you think you watch too many movies... think again. Gwilym Hughes - who has died at the age of 65 - notched up more than 28,000 movies since he began watching them in 1953. That works out at about two films every three days.

Mr Hughes, from Dolgellau in Gwynedd, holds the Guinness World Record for the number of films he has seen and recently averaged up to 14 films a week. He saw his first movie, King Solomon's Mines, in 1953 but his favourite film remained Lawrence of Arabia, directed by David Lean.

In an interview in 2008, Mr Hughes revealed how an illness when he was a child left him in hospital for two-and-a-half years but then watching King Solomon's Mines "clicked my imagination".
