If you've come to terms with the fact that there will actually be another 'Ghost Rider' movie and you think you can ignore the monstrosity that was the 2007 feature, then you'll want to catch up on the casting news we learned about. Idris Elba and Johnny Whitworth are currently in negotiations to join Nic Cage and friends in 'Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance,' which is set to release February 2012.

Cage is back as Johnny Blaze aka the demonic vigilante Ghost Rider, who has sold his soul to the devil in order to cure his father's cancer. It was recently announced that Irish actor Ciaran Hinds was cast as the big bad who Blaze is recruited by a sect to battle before he can possess his mortal son's body. Elba -- known for playing the business-savvy drug kingpin on HBO's 'The Wire' -- is eyeing up the role of "an alcoholic warrior monk" who tries to track down Ghost Rider. Apparently the anti-hero has been hiding out in remote Eastern Europe trying to repress his curse. Meanwhile, Whitworth -- who worked with directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor on 2009's 'Gamer' -- will possibly tackle the role of a criminal who tries to find the boy in question and is later transformed into a demon.

This isn't the only Marvel property that Elba's name is attached to. He's set to play Heimdall, the Guardian of Asgardin, in Marvel's 'Thor' due out in May. The actor recently spoke to Total Film about the role: "It was great to work with Kenneth (Director Kennth Branagh) and the Marvel team, very dedicated guys, amazingly detailed, very clever. It's going to be a big film for Marvel next year, and Kenneth Branagh has definitely put his stamp on it."

The more interesting news, however, is that Elba has entered into a long term relationship with the superhero giant. He told the magazine, "I have a picture deal with them (Marvel). I can't tell you much about that, but I can tell you I'll be back." It seems Elba has his eye on the 'Blade' franchise -- revealing he "wouldn't mind having a crack at bringing Blade back." He also sees the Harlem-born super-detective Luke Cage as a "very interesting" possibility.

So it seems Elba will be busy with comic book movies as far as the eye can see. Does he have your vote for Cage and Blade? Who else do you see the actor taking on in the Marvel universe?
