Idina MenzelIdina Menzel, the actress who created the role of Elphaba in Broadway's uber-popular musical 'Wicked,' says she's "too old" to reprise her Tony-winning performance on the big screen.

"They've already told the both of us we'll be too long in the tooth," Menzel said today at a press Q&A in Manhattan, referring to herself and her 'Wicked' co-star, Kristin Chenoweth. "Which I thought was absurd, until I was hired as Rachel's mother."

'Wicked,' a re-telling of 'The Wizard of Oz,' in which we find out what happened to the Wicked Witch of the West before Dorothy rolled into town, garnered Menzel worldwide praise and fame. The actress, who had already made a name for herself in the stage and screen versions of 'Rent,' also appeared on the hit TV show 'Glee,' as Rachel Berry's mother, Shelby.
"My new idea is, I tell the producers, 'Just do it like 'Avatar.' I'll be this amazing, exotic, gorgeous green woman and it'll be the essence of me and my voice and just less crow's feet," she joked.

Menzel said she'd love to be involved in the project in any way, which is currently starting to get a script and director together.

"They are going to make one but they're years away still," she said. " ... Maybe I'll play the green witch's mother."

Menzel also said there will be a sequel to the 2007 musical-movie 'Enchanted' and that she believes she will be asked to reprise her role.

Do you think Idina Menzel should play Elphaba in the 'Wicked' movie? Or if she is too old, who would make a good Elphie?
