The new movie 'For Colored Girls' is an adaptation of the beloved play by Ntozake Shange. This bold, experimental prose-poem was adapted for the screen and directed by Tyler Perry and stars a fantastic ensemble of women from the stage and screen.
Moviefone got a chance to talk to Perry about the pressure of adapting a beloved play and staying true to the text -- and why it's not just 'For Colored Girls' -- as well as working with Shange on the adaptation. We also sat down with stars Anika Noni Rose ('The Princess and the Frog,' 'Dreamgirls') and Broadway and TV actress Phylicia Rashad about bonding with the rest of the cast, which includes Whoopi Goldberg, Janet Jackson, Loretta Devine, Kimberly Elise, Kerry Washington, Thandie Newtown, and Tessa Thompson.
'For Colored Girls' opens November 5.
