Over the weekend we brought you an image of Hugo Weaving as Johann Schmidt in 'Captain America: The First Avenger.' In the image (which was scanned from SFX Magazine), Schmidt is holding the Cosmic Cube, which is one of the more powerful tools in the Marvel universe and one that will probably play a larger role in more than one upcoming Marvel movie. Whoever possesses the cube has the ability to do anything, really, from literally reshaping the world to opening up other dimensions.

In the film, due out on July 22nd, Captain America must stop Schmidt (also known as Red Skull) from taking control of the cube. You can see what Weaving looks like as Schmidt above, though after the jump we've posted concept art of his Red Skull alter-ego. The images come via Comic Book Movie, who claim they've confirmed that these are indeed the real deal.

A teaser trailer for 'Captain America: The First Avenger' should be arriving soon (this week, we hope), though we don't have a specific date yet. You can scope out Red Skull after the jump, but keep away if you're not fond of spoilers.
