It looks like 2011 may be a rough year for Halle Berry.

According to PEOPLE, the Oscar-winning actress has dropped plans to appear in the upcoming 'Valentine's Day' sequel 'New Year's Eve' to prepare for a custody battle for her 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Nahla.

"Halle has serious concerns for her daughter's well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her" her rep said.

Berry split from the baby's father, 35-year-old model Gabriel Aubry, in April.
So what does this mean for Berry's role in the movie? According to the report, she'll be replaced by -- wait for it -- Katherine Heigl.
