Four days after the disappointing news that Darren Aronofsky was ditching 'The Wolverine,' everyone is wondering who will replace him. Though no word has hit on potential replacements, Deadline is looking to the director who once battled the 'Black Swan' helmer for the top spot -- David Slade.

The director, who got a taste of studio tentpole pics with 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,' had moved on from visions of the Adamantium Man. He lost out on 'The Hunger Games' before hopping onto a reboot of another superhero flick, 'Daredevil.' However, as the site points out, he's an obvious candidate. Both pictures are at 20th Century Fox, and even after the soul-crushing first spin-off, Wolverine has a higher priority than 'Daredevil.'

It's important to note that as of now, Slade has taken to his Twitter to say there are currently no 'Wolverine' discussions underway.
