'Dear John' star Channing Tatum is a busy man. He's been featured in two flicks this year, 'The Eagle' and 'The Dilemma,' already has four more in the can and is currently filming the big-screen adaptation of '21 Jump Street,' co-starring Jonah Hill. But things will get even hotter for the handsome actor after he finishes 'Street,' because he's just signed on to star in a Steven Soderbergh–directed indie drama titled 'Magic Mike.'

Tatum will play the titular character, a male exotic dancer who, according to Variety, "schools a young dancer in how to hustle, both on and off the stage." The film reportedly draws on Tatum's real-life experiences as a stripper in Tampa, Fla., when he was 19.

"When Channing talked to me about this, I thought it was one of the best ideas I'd ever heard for a movie," Soderbergh said in a statement. "I said I wanted in immediately. It's sexy, funny, and shocking. We're using 'Saturday Night Fever' as our model, so hopefully we're on the right track."
