Woody Allen is an indisputable filmmaking genius, but his latest offerings haven't won him any favors in the Oscar community.

His newest film, 'Midnight in Paris,' is gathering so much positive buzz at the Cannes Film Festival, though, that Allen may be back on track, according to Entertainment Weekly.
'Midnight in Paris' is a romantic comedy about a family that travels to France for business. In the way 'Manhattan' was a love letter to New York City, 'Midnight in Paris' is supposedly about a young man's love for the city of Paris.

The film stars Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, Marion Cotillard, Adrien Brody and the first lady of France herself, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy. Early reviews out of Cannes are saying it harkens back to Allen's better days of wicked hilarity and magical realism.

Do you think Woody Allen has a shot at an Oscar this year for 'Midnight in Paris' or are his best days behind him? Tell us in the comments.
