Because who better to make a lighthearted adaptation of a family-friendly video game than the guy behind 'Audition'?

While in Cannes premiering his latest movie, 'Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai,' infamous Japanese director Takashi Miike announced to reporters that his next project will be a comedic take on the 'Ace Attorney' video game franchise for Nintendo DS. For those unfamiliar, 'Ace Attorney' is a puzzle-solving courtroom adventure game where the player has to solve various cases through investigations and cross-examinations. Miike, on the other hand, is a filmmaker best known for viciously maiming his characters and generally making the 'Hostel' series look like 'Babe: Pig in the City'.
Not the first person we would have pegged to helm a project like this, but if his 2009 adaptation of the anime series 'Yatterman' is any indication, it's starting to look like Miike might be out to clear his grisly name. Either way, we're looking forward to it.

So let's hear it: Is this a match made in video game heaven, or does this have 'Super Mario Bros.' written all over it?
