After stealing the spotlight right out from under Jeff Brides and Matt Damon in 'True Grit' last year, it looks like things are gonna start turning up Hailee over the next year. Already slated to star in an upcoming remake of 'Romeo and Juliet,' 14-year-old Steinfeld is now being eyed to take on the iconic role of Carrie White for the upcoming remake of Brian De Palma's 1976 horror classic, 'Carrie.'

Definitely promising news for those of us who think this movie has "unnecessary" written all over it, and definitely an upgrade from the idea of having 25-year-old bombshell Megan Fox play a timid, unpopular high school senior. She never really struck us as the Sissy Spacek–type. No word yet on the release date or the director, but now that they've nailed down 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' scribe Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to take care of the script, it looks like this thing is really happening. What do you think: Sounds promising, or still sounds awful? [via CinemaBlend]
