If ever a super hero movie needed a relaunch it's 'Daredevil,' Marvel Comic's blind avenger. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner starred in the much maligned (by critics and fans alike) 2003 big-screen adaptation and now that Fox has successfully rebooted the X-Men franchise with the 'X-Men: First Class,' the studio is ramping up a new edition of the red-clad crimefighter.

'Fringe' writer-producer Brad Caleb Kane has been hired to write the new 'Daredevil,' and he's basing it on Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's famous 'Daredevil: Born Again' story line that ran in the comic's Feb.-Aug. 1986 issues.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kane -- a Daredevil fan -- has gained a following for his script for 'Brooklyn's Finest' and has worked on DreamWorks' View-Master movie, a Richard Pryor biopic that has Bill Condon attached to direct, and a draft of 'The Historian,' Columbia's planned adaptation of the Elizabeth Kostova vampire novel.

David Slade ('30 Days of Night,' 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse') is attached to direct. No cast or start date has been set.
