We're looking forward to Paul W.S. Anderson's take on 'The Three Musketeers,' even if it's being shot in 3D (meaning swords may deliberately be thrust out at the screen -- ugh!), for a couple of reasons:
1) We're very curious to see how Anderson -- primarily an action director and responsible for the 'Resident Evil' franchise -- will handle a story that takes place in the 17th century.
2) We get to see the lovely Milla Jovovich playing the sexy, conniving, evil traitor Milady (a part played to the hilt by Faye Dunaway in Richard Lester's 1973 version).
Summit Entertainment has released via Yahoo! Movie the film's poster and it is refreshingly old-school, giving us more hope that Anderson will do justice to the swashbuckling action.
The film stars Orlando Bloom, Jovovich, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Ray Stevenson, Juno Temple, Matthew Macfadyen, Mads Mikkelsen, Luke Evans and Til Schweiger, and there's a lot going on in the busy poster, highlighting the actors in poses that typify their roles.
Before you check out the poster after the jump, here's a synopsis of the movie, which deviates from the Alexandre Dumas novel and previous big-screen adaptations:
The hot-headed young D'Artagnan along with three former legendary but now down on their luck Musketeers must unite and defeat a beautiful double agent and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war.
'The Three Musketeers' opens Oct. 14.
Tip o' the hat to CinemaBlend.
