Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin have just signed on to the thriller 'Labor Day,' in which she'll play a lonesome single mother and he'll play an injured convict on the run to whom she unwisely gives a ride.

Jason Reitman ('Up in the Air') will direct from the 2009 novel by Joyce Maynard. It's described as part love story (guess these two hook up, then), coming-of-age tale and thriller. The part of Winslet's 13-year-old son, who is also along for the fateful ride, has yet to be cast.

We're looking forward to seeing these two square off, as well as seeing Winslet in an '80s wardrobe -- the film is set during Labor Day weekend in 1987.

The movie will shoot in 2012 in New England.

Brolin is currently filming 'Men in Black III,' as the '60s version of Tommy Lee Jones' character. Winslet's next film, 'Contagion' for Steven Soderbergh, is set for an Oct. 21 release.
