'Twilight' actress Mia Maestro will soon take a bite out of Oliver Stone's upcoming adaptation of Don Winslow's 'The Savages,' a novel about a pair of young Laguna Beach marijuana kingpins (Aaron Johnson and Emile Hirsch) who are blackmailed into working for the Baja Cartel after their best friend and sometime sex partner (Blake Lively) is kidnapped. Also in the high-profile film's cast are Benicio Del Toro (as a drug cartel enforcer), John Travolta and Uma Thurman. Maestro will play Del Toro's wife, a tough and bitter woman whose soccer mom lifestyle hides a gang-life past. The film begins production this summer. [The Hollywood Reporter]

'Breaking Bad's' Giancarlo Esposito will join the cast of 'I, Alex Cross,' Summit Entertainment's adaptation of the James Patterson novel being directed by Rob Cohen. Tyler Perry stars as the homicide detective/psychologist (played by Morgan Freeman in the two previous Cross films, 'Kiss the Girls' and 'Along Came a Spider') who meets his match in a serial killer (Matthew Fox). Ed Burns and Jean Reno also star. Esposito will play a crime boss. Production will begin this fall. [The Hollywood Reporter]
