Some directors like to work in secrecy; Woody Allen is among them. Some films require secrecy; apparently, Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' is among them. For months pundits have pondered whether it was a prequel to Scott's 'Alien' or if it were a sci-fier that would stand on its own. Now we know.

Rumors have been flying fast and furious about the production, which has been filming now under tight secrecy. But, according to our friends over at The Playlist, Fox has released an official synopsis/logline for the film to quell rumors:
Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life's ultimate mystery.
But things don't stop there. According to The Playlist, someone in the cast or crew leaked to website io9 a supposed plot synopsis for the film, and though they caution that it may be "dubious," it reads pretty neat to us. Check it out after the jump.

'Prometheus,' which opens June 8, 2012, stars Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace and Guy Pearce.
