Old Gods never die: They either make TV or movie deals. Well, not exactly. In Marie Phillips's best-selling debut novel 'Gods Behaving Badly,' the old Greek gods and goddesses are living in a tumbledown house in modern-day London and facing a very serious problem: their powers are waning, and immortality does not seem guaranteed. Apollo is a TV psychic, Aphrodite is a phone-sex worker, Artemis, the goddess of the moon, chastity and the hunt, has been working as a dog walker. Now transpose that to a brownstone in New York, put the film in the hands of Marc Turtletaub (producer of "SherryBaby" and "Little Miss Sunshine") as his feature directorial debut, add a gigantic cast of Hollywood stars and you get one interesting production: Christopher Walken as Zeus, the king of the gods; John Turturro as lord of the underworld, Hades; Sharon Stone as Aphrodite; Oliver Platt as Apollo; Edie Falco as Artemis; Phylicia Rashad as Demeter; Nelsan Ellis as Dionysus; Gideon Glick as Eros; Henry Zebrowski as Hermes; and Rosie Perez as Persephone. Alicia Silverstone and Ebon Moss-Bachrach star as a young couple who encounter the gods in their building. The film begins shooting this month in New York. [The Hollywood reporter]

Forbes magazine has just released it list of the top 10 highest paid actresses in Hollywood, and the list really doesn't come as much as a surprise: Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker tied for the No. 1 spot: Each is estimated to have made $30 million between May 2010 and May 2011. Meryl Streep brings up the rear with only $10 million. Of course, you really need to put this in perspective -- male stars easily rack in more dollars than their female counterparts. Last year, Johnny Depp earned $75 million, Ben Stiller $53 million, Tom Hanks $45 million. Glass ceiling, anyone? Here's Forbes' list:
  1. Angelina Jolie - $30 million
  2. Sarah Jessica Parker - $30 million
  3. Jennifer Aniston - $28 million
  4. Reese Witherspoon - $28 million
  5. Julia Roberts - $20 million
  6. Kristen Stewart - $20 million
  7. Katherine Heigl - $19 million
  8. Cameron Diaz - $18 million
  9. Sandra Bullock - $15 million [TheWrap]
