Steven Soderbergh was at Comic-Con on Friday to tout his latest film, the thriller 'Haywire,' which stars mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano as a black ops super soldier who seeks payback after she is set up during a mission and betrayed. The story line is oh-so familiar, but the difference here is that the killer seeking retribution is a female.
Yesterday at Comic-Con, Soderbergh also clarified that he does not plan on retiring, saying that those original rumors had spread thanks to Matt Damon reiterating a drunk conversation they once had.
Soderbergh's next film, 'Contagion,' comes out in September. It's an action thriller that centers on the threat posed by a deadly disease and an international team of doctors contracted by the CDC to deal with the outbreak. He also has three more movies in various stages of production: 'Liberace,' 'Magic Mike' and 'The Man from U.N.C.L.E.' 'Haywire,' which counts among its ensemble cast Channing Tatum, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Antonio Banderas and Bill Paxton, will open January 20, 2012.
Now if someone would just team Carano with Cynthia Rothrock.
