Judging from the first trailer, Tilda Swinton gives another tour-de-force performance as the ambivalent mother of a teenage sociopath in 'We Need to Talk about Kevin.'

The third film from Lynne Ramsay ('Ratcatcher' and 'Morvern Callar') is based on the 2003 novel by Lionel Shriver, about the parents of a 15-year-old whose world is shattered when he commits what the press materials call a "heinous act."

John C. Reilly co-stars as Swinton's husband and Ezra Miller, of the upcoming 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower,' and TV's 'Royal Pains' and 'Californication,' plays the sociopathic son.

The film opens December 2 in the U.S. See the first trailer (with French subtitles), the poster and more images and read the full synopsis after the jump.
