If only Johnny Depp would play more eccentric authors! Oh. Wait. The poor-at-comparisons mega-star is set to produce a live-action film about Theodor Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) for Illumination Entertainment with eyes toward possibly starring as well. Per THR, "the film is unlikely to take the fantastical CGI-coated style of 'Alice in Wonderland,'" but that hasn't been ruled out. Illumination has produced 'Despicable Me' and 'Hop,' and has an adaptation of Geisel's 'The Lorax' set for next year. [THR/Risky Business]
Who you gonna call? Actually, no one, since phones didn't exist yet. Robert Zemeckis is set to produce 'Charles Fort,' a project described as a "period 'Ghostbusters.'" Based on the 'Fort: The Prophet of the Unexplained,' the film would follow the titular real-life researcher and writer Charles Fort and his entanglements with aliens and the paranormal (not real-life) in turn-of-the-century New York. This has nothing to do with the fact that she was cast opposite Jason Bateman, Alexander Skarsgard and Paula Patton in 'Disconnect,' an indie drama about how technology can push people apart, but it's good to know. [Deadline]

David Morse has been added to the cast of 'World War Z' as a prisoner living in an abandoned jail. Star Brad Pitt is still great and all, but is anyone else a little worried that this one comes from director Marc Forster ('Machine Gun Preacher')? Fingers crossed... [Deadline]

'J. Edgar'; or how not to promote your Oscar contender with a teaser poster. Yeesh. [Coming Soon]
