With Hollywood indefinitely confined to bed rest due to remake fever, it seems like you can expect daily news about planned remakes, reboots, re-imaginings, prequels and reinterpretations. Normally, that's cause for strife, but here's one that actually sounds awesome: Director Jason Reitman ('Up in the Air,' the upcoming 'Young Adult') has recruited Mindy Kaling, Patton Oswalt and James Van Der Beek to perform a live table reading of 'The Breakfast Club' at the Los Angeles County Museum on Thursday night.
Per THR, the reading will support Film Independent, "the nonprofit group which produces the Spirit Awards and the L.A. Film Festival." Reitman will spearhead a series of live readings, with the John Hughes classic going first.

As for the casting, Kaling is set to handle Allison (originally played by Allie Sheedy), Oswalt will take on Brian (originally played by Anthony Michael Hall), and Van Der Beek will play Andy (originally played by Emilio Estevez). J.K. Simmons is also in the cast, as the janitor. No word yet on which stars will fill the shoes of Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald or Paul Gleason. Check out Reitman's Twitter page for more updates as they become available.
