Thanks to the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise and global smashes like 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' and 'Alice in Wonderland,' Johnny Depp has become one of the biggest movie stars on the planet. Between him, Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, you would assume one of those Hollywood heavyweights would rank as the highest-grossing actor of all-time in the Guinness Book of World Records. If you did, however, you'd be dead wrong. Can you guess which star has seen his or her films gross more globally than anyone ever?
Stumped? Try Samuel L. Jackson. The 62-year-old actor has appeared in well over 100 films, including box-office hits like the 'Star Wars' prequels, the Marvel films ('Iron Man,' 'Iron Man 2,' 'Captain America: The First Avenger,' 'Thor'), 'The Incredibles,' 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Jurassic Park.'

All told, Jackson's films have earned $7.42 billion according to Guinness. Not bad for a guy who didn't get his big break until Spike Lee cast him in the 1991 film 'Jungle Fever.'

The Oscar-nominated Jackson is currently appearing on Broadway as Martin Luther King in 'The Mountaintop' opposite Angela Bassett. You can see him in 'Captain America: The First Avenger,' on DVD this week.
