Two-time Best Actress winner Hilary Swank received tons of bad press earlier this month when she appeared at the birthday party of Chechnya president Ramzan Kadyrov, an accused human rights violator and possible war criminal. Now, it appears someone on her team has taken a fall for the PR disaster. The Independent reports that Swank has fired her long-time manager Jason Weinberg, while Amie Yavor and Josh Lieberman -- two of Swank's CAA agents -- are allegedly close to being moved off her team.
The UK publication calls Swank a "prominent Hollywood liberal," and that might be the cause of this apparent house-cleaning. "Hilary values her liberal credentials and is close to Michelle Obama," said a source to the paper. "She's really upset by what happened. It's partly her fault. But what can she do? She can hardly fire herself."

To that end, it does appear that a lack of proper vetting was the cause of Swank's attendance at the party. Further compounding the issue was that Human Rights Foundation actually contacted Weinberg to tell him about the problems with Kadyrov, but Weinberg said she wasn't attending. Apparently, he wasn't even aware of the event.

Said another source to Deadline's Nikki Finke about the matter: "There's a world of shit going down at CAA over it."

Swank next appears in 'New Year's Eve.' She donated her fee to charity after the story of her
controversial attendance broke.
