UPDATE: According to a tweet from The Playlist, Edgerton has been offered the second lead in 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,' that of Iilya.

Poor Joel Edgerton didn't have much luck with his fall twosome of 'Warrior' (unfortunately not seen!) and 'The Thing' (fortunately not seen!), so it goes to reason that he would want to up his profile with some sure things in the near future. And so here we are! Not only is Edgerton co-starring in 'The Great Gatsby,' but he's got his pick of two high-profile upcoming projects, according to Vulture: Steven Soderbergh's 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E.' and the '300' prequel.
Vulture reports that Warner Bros. offered Edgerton the lead role in 'U.N.C.L.E.' despite the fact that Bradley Cooper was apparently the top choice only a couple of weeks ago. This comes hours after Vulture also reported that Edgerton was the studio's pick to lead '300: Battle of Artemisia.' (Seems like Edgerton has some big fans on the Warner's lot.)

Edgerton hasn't accepted either role, but speculation is that he will grab one. After losing out on the lead in 'The Bourne Legacy' to Jeremy Renner, dude deserves a break.
