Last week, during a Q&A for his new movie 'Tower Heist' at the Arclight Theater in Los Angeles, director Brett Ratner sparked a media firestorm when he declared, "Rehearsing is for fags." The ensuing outrage had far-reaching consequences: on Tuesday, Ratner gave up his job as producer of the 2012 Academy Awards telecast, and then on Wednesday, his hand-picked host, Eddie Murphy, withdrew as well.

Now, Moviefone has obtained an exclusive video clip showing that director Quentin Tarantino made a similar remark at the very same theater just two years ago.
Revving up the crowd at a midnight premiere for his movie 'Inglourious Basterds,' Tarantino said, "It's good to see you bad-ass Thursday motherfuckers here! Not those Friday faggots, you're here at 12!" (The statement begins at the 12-second mark.)

While Tarantino's face cannot be seen in the poorly lit video, the ArcLight's Facebook page for the screening confirms that the director appeared that night, as does the event listing on

Tarantino's outburst, unlike Ratner's, caused no controversy at the time. 'Inglourious Basterds' went on to be nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Director and Best Screenplay (both for Tarantino), as well as Best Picture.

Moviefone has reached out to Quentin Tarantino for comment and is awaiting a response.
