Jared Harris may be British, but he still has the acting chops to play a former U.S. general and president. According to Variety, Harris has just been cast as Ulysses S. Grant in Steven Spielberg's historical biopic, 'Lincoln.' The film focuses on Abraham Lincoln (Daniel Day Lewis) during the end of the Civil War. Harris, most recently known for his role as Lane Pryce in 'Mad Men,' has starred in a variety of films, such as 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,' Mr. Deeds' and 'Natural Born Killers.' In 'Lincoln,' he will play Grant before he became president (Lincoln was the 16th, Grant the 18th).
Harris can be seen starring opposite Robert Downey Jr. in this December's 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows'; 'Lincoln' currently doesn't have an official release date, but you can expect it in theaters after the presidential election in 2012.
