Many fans were disappointed when Hailee Steinfeld didn't win the coveted role of Katniss Everdeen in 'The Hunger Games' trilogy, but how's this for a consolation prize: Variety reports that Steinfeld is negotiating to star opposite Asa Butterfield in 'Ender's Game.' The 'True Grit' star -- who is also set to lead a new version of 'Romeo and Juliet' in the coming year -- would play Petra Arkanian in the Gavin Hood-directed adaptation of Orson Scott Card's award-winning sci-fi novel, "the only girl in Salamander Army who quickly becomes Ender's (Butterfield) ally and trusted right hand."
Butterfield was cast in the film earlier this week, meaning the hiring process on this one is moving at a rapid pace. Harrison Ford's name is still being bandied about as a possibility to play Colonel Hyrum Graff, the male adult lead, but as yet no deals have been offered.
