While the UK trailer for 'The Iron Lady' relied on some pop-culture staples
(Madness's 'Our House' as a music cue, for instance), this brand-new trailer keeps things taut and serious while focusing on the film's star attraction: Meryl Streep. La Streep hasn't won an Academy Award since the 1984 ceremonies (for her role in 'Sophie's Choice'), but based on the early buzz and this new clip, the Best Actress trophy could be hers to lose on Oscar night.
Streep stars as Margaret Thatcher in 'The Iron Lady,' and not only mimics the former British prime minister with seeming expertise, but also infuses the steely world leader with a bit of wounded humanity. The results speak for themselves -- at least in trailer-form; Viola Davis and Michelle Williams better hope Streep twists an ankle on the way to the Kodak Theater stage on Feb. 26.

'The Iron Lady' opens in limited release on Dec. 30.
