Ever since his hosting stint at last year's sort-of awkward, sort-of funny Golden Globes, Ricky Gervais has maintained an unapologetic stance on his brash and off-color routine. But during a 'Today' show interview, the comedian made an out-of-character confession: "I got it a bit wrong." Of course, he was talking about the 2010 show.
"I tried too hard with the schtick, the comedy, and I should have just gone out there and done zingers, I think, because the attention span of someone at an award show, particularly the Golden Globe, is about a second," he told Matt Lauer.

As for the 2011 show, the comedian echoed a past sentiment that none of his jokes -- about Angelina Jolie's poor-performing movie or Robert Downey Jr's battle with drugs -- were untrue. Of course, any publicity is good publicity, so Gervais was invited back to host the Globes for a third time, which airs January 15.

Turns out some of the backlash from last year did affect the British joke-slinger. "What really tipped the balance was all those people who said I'd never be invited back."

Hey, guys, Ricky Gervais has feelings, too!
