Professor X and Harry Potter are teaming up, as Fox announced it's tapped "X-Men: Days of Future Past" star James McAvoy to play Dr. Frankenstein alongside Daniel Radcliffe's Igor in its new adaptation of the Mary Shelley horror classic.
McAvoy was among several leading men vying for the coveted role, Deadline reports, with Jack Huston ("Boardwalk Empire") and Toby Kebbell ("RocknRolla") also testing for the part. McAvoy is currently hammering out a final deal with the studio.
"Frankenstein" will be helmed by director Paul McGuigan ("Lucky Number Slevin"), and written by "Chronicle" screenwriter Max Landis. It's set to start shooting this fall, after Radcliffe finishes his run in the West End production of "Cripple of Inishmaan."
